The Earl Smith Strand Theatre will unveil a new music-inspired exhibit by Claire Dunaway during the Marietta Square's First Friday Art Walk and The Strand's Brew With A View on September 3 from 6-9 PM. This music-inspired collection will highlight a different side of Dunaway, as her last show focused on objects like rusty cars, barns, cows, horses, and gas station pumps. In fact, her "Caboose" painting from her last series was recently accepted to a juried show at the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art and is on display through September 10 in the "Metro Montage X" exhibit. The show was judged by Adrianna Del Collo, Associate Archivist at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Claire Dunaway is a Marietta native and when she isn't creating art, she is preparing the next generation of artists--800, in fact. The Ford Elementary School art teacher credits her students with inspiring her. "Being a teacher has made me appreciate the spontaneity of child-like art. How fresh it is, how they're not afraid to try things," she said. "The kids have so much fun with art. Even as artists, as adults, we forget to have fun with it."
